Beginner Bird Walks
Held the second Wednesday of every month at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa. Free, casual, and built for people who are just starting out.
Field Trips
Our full calendar of birding field trips, open to members and the public, at locations across the region throughout the year.
Monthly Programs
Evening speaker series held the first Monday of each month, September through May. Live at the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology in Camarillo, or join by Zoom.
Family-Friendly Events & Programs
Family Bird Walk
A relaxed, all-ages walk built for families, often held in partnership with local libraries and parks. Free and open to the public.
Community Events

Annual & Seasonal Events
Beginner Birding Class
A one-day class covering the basics: how to use a field guide and binoculars, and how to start identifying birds in your own backyard.
Bird-Friendly Garden Tour
A free self-guided tour each spring of local native-plant gardens that support bird habitat, held in partnership with the California Native Plant Society.
Christmas Bird Count
Our chapter's contribution to the nationwide Christmas Bird Count, held every December. Beginners are teamed up with experienced birders, so no experience is required to take part.
Fundraising Events
Annual Dinner & Auction Fundraiser
Our biggest fundraiser of the year: a cocktail dinner and auction each spring that supports CVAS programs, conservation work, and habitat grants.
